It is found on the peak of the mountain Ochi in 1.398 meters of height.
The perfect situation in which the monument is conserved, the originality of its shape, the beauty of its proportions, the precision of its construction and the resolution of some serious static problems with great success, like the one of the ledges of stones of huge volume with such refinement and accuracy, make the dragon house of Ochi one of the most important monuments of Greece, according to the Professor of the Aristotle University of Thessalonica, N. K. Moutsopoulos.
Concerning the use of the monument, there is a variety of opinions. Professor Moutsopoulos made a complete study along with its excavation, and came to the conclusion that it was a temple where sacrifices were made at least from the archaic era. Opinions about when it was built are also discordant. The latest studies and excavations showed findings of the Hellenistic era.
At the Kalyvia Center of Environmental Observations the guest can find a lot of information about the area, such as wild life and rare flower species.
